Preventis replaces your existing benefits plan with a flexible health spending account (under Canada Revenue’s Private Health Services Plan legislation) and a comprehensive package of insurance benefits. These two elements are combined seamlessly, providing both the organization and its employees with a more powerful and effective benefits program that we call a Lifecare Account™.

With a Lifecare Account™, your employees receive a lump sum amount to spend on a wide range of approved health services (PDF 200kb) . Generally, this amount is greater than what the average employee would normally spend on extended health benefits in a year. However the strength of the program lies in the fact that employees can spend their account dollars on a far wider range of services than a normal extended health plan would cover. This facilitates each employee’s investment in their long term health and well being.

For the organization, the funds allocated to each employees spending account is simply taken from the funds that would normally be spent on conventional extended health benefits. What would normally be spent on insurance company profit margin now ends up in your employee’s pockets, so the employee’s account contains more funds than they would normally spend. To make sure that people never suffer financially if they require unusually expensive medications, Preventis incorporates stop-loss insurance coverage for unusual drug claims.
